WASTELANDS

Scrapyards are the origin of the world according to Joe Rush.

They are a graveyard for industrial, agricultural or military machinery, a chaotic world of metal, anachronistic designs,

obsolete, broken, eroded, rusted, discarded parts.

Artist-archaeologist, in this entanglement of forms and materials, his eye recognizes a mouth, a chest, an expression.

His finds, these encounters that he describes as "accidents" impose and reveal

the nature, the personality, the history of a character.

In Rush's work, the singularity of a piece predestines the sculpture. Then, through a skillful assembly of heterogeneous fragments, he shapes, composes and constructs the anatomy of a work of art.

These works belong to a mythology whose childlike, humorous, tender and poetic aesthetics

is born from a chaos that only he can order.

He calls it: “Wastelands” and is relentless in giving life to found and inanimate objects.
